On average, one third of the electricity produced in Europe is now generated with nuclear power. This share will possibly grow in the coming years. Currently Europe has 148 nuclear plants and has plans to construct several new reactors.
Nuclear power can make an important contribution in the transition to a sustainable energy household. This will be reinforced by using less fuel and producing less waste. The environment can profit now and in the future from sustainable nuclear power and the supply certainty of nuclear energy is increased.
PALLAS research & development programmes will make sustainable nuclear power possible. PALLAS will improve existing fuels and will develop and test existing and new nuclear fuels in order to operate existing reactors more efficiently.
