Infrastructure

The need for PALLAS extends further than the Netherlands. European studies on the need for research reactors in Europe confirm that the reactor in Petten plays an essential role in the European infrastructure for nuclear research. In the European vision, PALLAS is considered the most important producer of radio isotopes for medical applications and as an indispensable facility for sustainable nuclear power.

NRG has a high-quality infrastructure, such as the High Flux Reactor (HFR), the Hot Cell Laboratories, actinides laboratory and radiological laboratories. For almost half a century the HFR has already played an important role in the international research. By constructing the advanced research reactor PALLAS, as a successor of the HFR, international research in the Netherlands can also be continued in the future.

The PALLAS reactor is essential for the continuity of the production of medical isotopes for diagnosis and therapy. PALLAS will also continue to reinforce the global role of the Netherlands in research into nuclear fuels and sustainable nuclear power.
