Employment

The construction of a new reactor will have positive implications for both direct and indirect employment.

In the construction of PALLAS, many companies will be involved for several years. For the location of PALLAS and the Netherlands this means a great many jobs in the supplying (construction) companies.

In operation PALLAS will attract high-quality employment like a magnet. Specific expertise of nuclear facilities will be needed to operate PALLAS. NRG has this expertise now, and with PALLAS also in the future, to make the connection between government, educational institutions and industry. Researchers can further expand research into sustainable nuclear energy and the development of medical isotopes.

Moreover, numerous suppliers, buyers and service companies will want to have an establishment in the immediate vicinity of the production location. Companies will want to convert the outputs from the reactor into end products near to the production facility. The laboratories and production facilities which are necessary for production, must be built, manned, managed and maintained.

The end products and expertise on this will spread over the world. Vice versa, worldwide interest in the activities of PALLAS will result in visits to the location. The transport, distribution and accommodation sector in the surrounding area of PALLAS will profit considerably.

PALLAS is a catalyst for (the supra) regional employment.
